Meeting Child Nutritional Requirements
Meeting Child Nutritional Requirements Unit 4 Health promotion and development. 1. Construct a table to indentify the main government guidelines on food and nutrition, and evaluate the ways in which they can be incorporated into child care settings. 2. Identify and describe the type of food that are unsuitable for babies and young children. You should specify the reason why these foods are unsuitable. There are many different food groups which should be avoided for babies from 0 to 24 months such as: Salt (Babies shouldnââ¬â¢t eat much salt as it isnt good for their kidneys.Dont add salt to your babyââ¬â¢s foodanddont usestock cubes or gravy as theyre often high in salt. Remember this when youââ¬â¢re cooking for the family if you plan to give the same food to your baby.) Sugar (Your baby doesnââ¬â¢t need sugar.By avoiding sugary snacks and drinks, youll help to prevent tooth decay. Use mashed banana, breast milkor formula milk to sweeten food if necessary.) Honey (Occasionally, honey contains bacteria which can produce toxins in a babyââ¬â¢s intestines, leading to infant botulism, which is a very serious illness. Itââ¬â¢s best not to give your child honey until theyââ¬â¢re one year old. Honey is a sugar, so avoiding it will alsohelp to prevent tooth decay.) Nut (Whole nuts, including peanuts, shouldnt be given to children under five as they can choke on them. As long as theres no history of food allergies or other allergies in your family you can giveyour baby peanuts once theyre six months old as long as theyre crushed or ground into peanut butter) Low Fat (Fat is an important source of calories and some vitamins for babies and young children. Itââ¬â¢s better for babies and young children under two tohave full-fat milk, yoghurt and cheese rather than low-fat varieties. SeeUnderstanding food groupsfor more information.) Saturated Fat (Fat is an important source of calories and some vitamins for babies and young children. Itââ¬â¢s better for babies and young children under two tohave full-fat milk, yoghurt and cheese rather than low-fat varieties. SeeUnderstanding food groupsfor more information.) Saturated (Dont give your child too many foods that are high in saturated orbad fat, such as crisps, chips, cheap burgers and cakes.) Shark, Swordfish and Marlin (Dont give your baby shark, swordfish or marlin. The amount of mercury in these fish can affect a babyââ¬â¢s growing nervous system.) Raw Shellfish (Raw shellfish can increase the risk of food poisoning so itââ¬â¢s best not to give it to babies.) Raw Eggs (Raw shellfish can increase the risk of food poisoning so itââ¬â¢s best not to give it to babies) It is equally as important to ensure that certain food groups are avoided for children between 3 to 5 year olds these foods could include: Salt (high salt intake may mean high blood pressure, osteoporosis, kidney stones, heart disease and strokes. Osteoporosis and kidney stones have even been detected in children ââ¬â proving salt intake is a problem for their present as well as future health.) Fat ( Not all fats should be avoided as there are good fats and bad fats. Bad fats can lead to weight gain and obesity and later life could cause heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure. Sugar (The ugly truth is that added sugar means empty calories that put kids at risk of obesity and health problems that can show up as early as adolescence.) Processed foods (Processed foods made with trans fats, saturated fats, and large amounts of sodium and sugar arent good for you. Theyre low in vitamins and minerals and eating too much of them is bad for your waistline and your health) 3.Design a child record form for a new child joining a home child setting with a specific dietary requirement. Describe the dietary requirements, and why it should be documented accurately Child record form Child Name: Record number:. Address. Post code. Emergency Contact1 Relation: Parent/Guardian. Contact Number Work.. Other Emergency Contact2 Relation: Parent/Guardian. Contact Number Work. Other Doctors Address.. Doctors Number.. Doctors Name.. Declaration I Declare that the information provided on this form about my child is a true and accurate reflection of the best of my knowledge. Parent/Guardian PRINT: Parent/Guardian Signature.. Date:. Child care Provider PRINT.. Child Care Provider Signature. Date. Medical Condition and allergies Form Medication.Dosage RequirementsDaily Intake.. Declaration I Declare that the information provided on this form about my child is a true and accurate reflection of the best of my knowledge. Parent/Guardian PRINT: Parent/Guardian Signature.. Date:. Child care Provider PRINT.. Child Care Provider Signature. Date.. It is always important to understand and document a childs dietary needs carefully and accurately. This is important to ensure that children are receiving care and safety to meet their individual requirements for example, if a child is to have a allergy towards nuts the care coordinator must ensure that they are meeting a nut free dietary requirement and ensuring that epi-pen and medication are correctly labelled. It is almost if not more important for all the care coordinators to understand how and when to administer medication when needed in case of emergencies. It is not just allergies that a care provider needs to be aware about but also about religious needs and beliefs. For example Adventis do not eat seafood and pork whereas a Muslim would require a Halal a meat. Depending on the type of child care setting the child attends, it may be necessary to share information on dietary and culture requirements with kitchen staff and additional member of child care staff. 4.Define the 4 chronic diseases identified in the course manual, and discuss the ways in which development can be affected. The 4 main childhood chronic diseases, asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and cerebral palsy. A definition of asthma is: A respiratory condition marked by attacks of spasm in the bronchi of the lungs, causing difficulty in breathing. Diabetes can affect retinopathy which can cause blindness and nephropathy which affects the nerves which can cause physical impairments. Cystic fibrosis also known as mucoviscidosis, is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder that affects most critically the lungs, and also the pancreas, liver, and intestine. It is characterized by abnormal transport of chloride and sodium across an epithelium, leading to thick, viscous secretions. Approximately 1 in 25 population have this faulty gene. This condition can be very physically debilitating for a child. Cerebral palsy is a condition that affects muscle control and movement. Lauren Park Prof. Stewart Ac Eng 139W 11/24/2013 Introduction The subject of abortion has had very highly contested debates over decades. In most platforms, there are numerous religious, legal, moral or social reasons floated against having an abortion. However, in the same platforms, the proponents of abortion outline various arguments to rest their point. Central to the opponents (pro-life activists) arguments against abortion is that abortion is an unethical. According to Naden (2007), they contend that personhood begins at conception. Therefore, abortion terminates a life an innocent human being. On the other hand, the proponents (pro-choice activists) argue that human life begins after birth, hence the claimed right to life for the fetus does not match the criteria. They also assert that abortion is a right that should not be limited by either government-based or non-governmental organizations since it has more weight than the right the right claimed for a fetus. In spite of abortion being advocated for in certain medical circumstance, the procedure is widely not acceptable in most societies due to the numerous negative side effects associated to it. Even though there are some incidences where abortion has been widely advocated, abortion is generally not acceptable due to the numerous negative aspects associated to it. According to Bailey (2012), abortion is a medical and legal process of terminating a pregnancy so that it does not result in the birth of a baby. The National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom points out that the procedure can either be through taking a prescribed medication or a surgical process (NHS, 2012). In the same context, NHS distinguishes abortion from a miscarriage in the sense that there i... ...ficulties of finding brides due to imbalanced sex ratio. Those efforts actually worked and a survey in 2007 showed that campaigns and advertisements actually helped womenââ¬â¢s perceived status. However, problem of imbalanced sex ratio did not completely solved, so change of policy can be another solution. For example, if both parents are only child, they are allowed to have two children. But what if two children are daughters? Although they can have two children, a gender of their children does not depend on their choices. Then, fetal sex determination is the only option for those parents who want a boy and there is high possibility of carrying out a plan of having sex selective abortion to have male child for their family line. Therefore, allowing people a second child or third child when they only have daughter can be another way to reduce sex selective abortion. Globalisation â⬠for and against essay Essay
In last few years we hear more and more about phenomenon called globalisation. But what we can understand under this notion? Globalisation is the process of international integration based on interchange of world views, products, ideas and cultures. The result of this occurrence is forming one, big world, in which people live together, like a one nation. In my essay, I will show arguments for and against globalization. A major advantages of globalization is a social and economic progress for developing countries. We can have availability of global brands and products. Because of globalization we can notice progress in technology and communication advances. What is more, globalization give us opportunities to work or study abroad, which are a big chance for young people to meet new friends and get new experiences. It is also a chance for poorer countries to benefit from investment as a result of globalization. On the other hand, globalization has some disadvantages. It exposes the gap between rich and poor ââ¬â rich countries can have theirs cheap goods from poorer countries. They exploit workers. Also, we can see that globalization destroys local cultures and traditions. People donââ¬â¢t feel their membership to countries where they were born and grew up. To sum up, it is hard to say if globalization has more advantages then disadvantages. In my opinion, pros and cons equilibrate. Globalisation is about progress in new technology and products. But is destroy peoples nationalities and make them multisocial. Globalisation ââ¬â for and against essay In last few years we hear more and more about phenomenon called globalisation. Red Jackson, Harlem, New York, By Gordon Parks Essay
I selected by Gordon Parks entitled, Red Jackson, Harlem, New York, it was taken in 1948. Gordon Parks, born November 30, 1912 in Fort Scott, Kansas. He happened to be the youngest of fifteen children born to Andrew and Sarah Parks. His mother taught him the virtues of hard work, dignity, and love, which led to his success. He became a filmmaker, a writer, and a composer, although he utilized a camera as his weapon of choice. The point that I found extremely interesting regarding Gordon Parks remains that not only was he multi-talented, but I feel like his struggles in his early life gave him the empathy needed to capture the struggles of others, in a way that make us look past the labels that society put on people. Gordon Parks, a black man, who lived during the great depression, worked odd jobs, and understood the struggles of poverty. After his mother passed away in 1928, Gordon was sent to live with his sister and brother in-law in St. Paul Minnesota. After a disagreement with this brother in-law he was not welcome in their home. At just fifteen years old, Gordon found himself homeless. I feel like Gordon could identify with a lot of the people he photographed. If his mother had not instilled him with integrity, and had not found and honed his talent. He could have ended up like several of the people he photographed. Finally, in 1938 during a layover in Seattle, Washington, Gordon had an impulse to buy a camera. When he brought the film in to be developed, the clerkShow MoreRelatedRed Jackson, Harlem, New York, And The Image Above946 Words à |à 4 Pagesselected a photograph by Gordon Parks entitled, Red Jackson, Harlem, New York, and the image above was captured in 1948. In 1860 the republican party sprang to life to compete against the Democratic parties, and this really lit the fire for the different viewpoints for the United States of America with Laws and rules. For decades people chose different sides, for which parties they believed offered the best ideas and laws. Matching the two parties side by side actually gives you in-depth details on the three main topics in this essay, which is Tax policies, Health Care, and Crime and Capital Punishment. People always have different viewpoints on how they believe laws and rules should be carried out. That is why it is good to have two different sides giving you their main points and ideas. These two parties always compete in elections to get representatives into offices, and the reason being is so they can have some extra support when trying to pass laws and rules in the United States. The differences between the two parties for taxes policies are significantly different in many ways. The Republicans b elieve there should be tax cuts for everyone, both corporations and people of all income levels. This gives everyone a fair chance in society. This also helps people that are trying to open their own business for the chance of success. Democrats tax policies in the United States believe that middle class and the lower income family should have tax cuts, but they should be higher on corporations or wealthy individuals. A look at the meaning of nudity for ancient Greek society. A look at the meaning and significance of nudity in ancient Greece. The author argues that nudity in ancient Greece was highly praised, appreciated and publicly displayed. A look at reasons why nudity was celebrated and glorified in ancient Greece. In the post-Christianity era, nudity, or more frequently used and linguistically precise, nakedness, has been equated as the source of sinfulness, as demonstrated vividly in the first chapter, the Genesis, of the Holy Bible. This is not to say, on the other hand, that nudity has been for good dwelled in humans consciousness as sin. As a matter of fact, in ancient Greek, nudity was highly praised and appreciated. Furthermore, it was publicly displayed as a gift from God. Thus, what was then and what is now? By the end of this paper, I hope we would be able to find some answers to this question.
